He has more than 30 years of professional practice in Dominican and international law.

Yes — a significant part of our practice involves advising foreign clients. We work with international corporations, foreign investors, and individuals from across the Americas, Europe, and beyond who are conducting business, making investments, or purchasing property in the Dominican Republic. We operate bilingually in Spanish and English.

We assist with the formation of the main types of Dominican business entities — including the Sociedad de Responsabilidad Limitada (S.R.L.), the Sociedad Anónima (S.A.), and branches of foreign corporations. We also advise on the establishment of joint ventures and consortia, and on choosing the right structure for your specific business goals.

Purchasing property in the DR involves several steps: identifying and due-diligencing the property; reviewing the title certificate at the Real Estate Registry; negotiating and signing a promissory sale contract; paying applicable transfer taxes; and executing the final sale deed before a notary. Condominium properties require additional review under Condominium Law 5038/1958. We guide clients through every stage. Note: this is general information — for advice specific to your situation, please contact us directly.

The primary statute is Law 108-05 on Real Estate Registry (2005), which governs how property rights are registered and certified. Properties in older areas may carry Annotated Deeds (Constancias Anotadas) rather than full title certificates — a legacy of pre-Law 108-05 cadastral records. Condominium developments are separately governed by Condominium Law 5038 of 1958. Navigating both frameworks is standard practice for our real estate team.

The firm handles criminal and labor law matters on an exceptional basis — typically for existing clients with complex situations tied to their primary engagement. We do not hold ourselves out as a specialist labor law or employment firm. If your matter is primarily a labor law question, we are happy to discuss whether we are the right fit or can recommend appropriate counsel.

Yes. We advise on the establishment and operation of companies within Dominican free trade zones (zonas francas), including eligibility analysis, company formation under the FTZ regime, operating contracts with zone administrators, and ongoing compliance. The relevant regulatory body is the Consejo Nacional de Zonas Francas de Exportación (CNZFE) under Law 8-90.

You can reach us by phone, email, or through the contact form on this website. Our Santo Domingo office is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM (Atlantic Standard Time). We will respond within one business day to schedule an initial consultation.

Yes. M&A is a core part of our practice, particularly for transactions involving banking, insurance, and other regulated entities in the Dominican Republic. Dr. Bisonó has personally represented clients in the acquisition, merger, and sale of banking and insurance companies. We advise on the full transaction lifecycle: due diligence, deal structuring, regulatory approvals, contract negotiation, and closing.

Arbitration is a private, binding form of dispute resolution outside of the court system. It can offer advantages in speed, confidentiality, and the ability to select specialized arbitrators. Whether arbitration or litigation is preferable depends on the contract terms, the nature of the dispute, and your goals. We represent clients in both forums and will advise on the most appropriate route for your situation. We cannot give you specific advice through this assistant — please contact us to discuss your matter.

Our fee arrangements vary by matter type. We discuss fees transparently at the outset of any engagement. For transactional work, fees are typically fixed or based on transaction value. For litigation and ongoing advisory work, we may arrange hourly or retainer structures. Please contact us to discuss the specifics of your situation.
